About the event

ABOUT THE PRESENTATION: Ernie Kovacs was Television’s Original Genius, who used the medium of television in its infancy like no other. His comedy shaped how we see television from his first show in the 1950s and into the early 1960s, and Kovacs influenced everyone from Saturday Night Live to David Letterman to Conan O’Brien to Wayne Brady to Kids in the Hall. On July 18th, a new book from the Ernie Kovacs Estate was released: Ernie in Kovacsland: Writings, Drawings and Letters from Television’s Original Genius .

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS: Josh Mills is the host of the Rarified Heir Podcast, he also runs the estates of legendary comedian Ernie Kovacs, his mother; actress Edie Adams, and his celebrity photographer father Martin Mills. Josh’s first book, co-written with Pat Thomas (and Ben Model) is Ernie in Kovacsland: Writings, Drawings and Photographs from Television’s Original Genius.

Pat Thomas is the author of Listen, Whitey! The sounds of Black Power 1965-1975 and Did It! Jerry Rubin: An American Revolutionary and co-editor of Invitation to Openness: The Jazz & Soul Photography of Les McCann 1960-1980.

He is co-editor of My Week Beats Your Year: Encounters with Lou Reed and a contributor to Kerouac on Record: A Literary Soundtrack.
