They worked behind and in front of the camera, pioneering and dominating many professions, producing films, mentoring colleagues, and advancing cinema’s artistry. The labor, leadership, and creativity of these female visionaries turned the Hollywood film industry into one of the most successful forms of entertainment in the world. Mary Mallory will reveal how women such as Lois Weber, Tsuru Aoki, Mary Pickford, Hattie Tabourne and others made their mark on silent films and opened the door for others to follow through.
